What is an STI?
Sexually transmitted infections are groups of contagious diseases transmitted through intimate sexual contact.  Each disease has a different cause, symptoms and treatment.

  • Most common bacterial STI's are Chlamydia and Gonorrhea
  • Most common viral STI's are Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and Herpes Simplex Virus II

Symptoms:

Symptoms include burning, discharge, open sores, itching in the genital area, however, many people have STI's with no symptoms.  Anyone who has reason to believe that he or she has been exposed to an STI should be examined by a clinician.
